SPEED & SKILL WORKSHOP (SUDBURY)
SPEED & SKILL WORKSHOP (SUDBURY)

Time & Location

Aug 20, 2023, 11:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Honourable James Jerome Sports Complex, 112-198 Centennial Drive, Sudbury, ON

About the event

In this masterclass we will touch on 3 of the key tenets of high level football:

  • Speed
  • Line play
  • Skill technique

Coaches that have these three aspects of the game in abundance, have no trouble winning. Which makes them very sought after at all high levels, and each is a skill in and of itself. At Athletic Paradigm, we are bringing those foundational elements of each skill to you in one workshop.

This workshop starts in the 11-1230pm session with Speed 101. This is for all positions and will teach tools of acceleration, linear velocity, change of direction and combine tools of the trade that each athlete can use to bolster their own speed. We will measure your top velocity and give you a starting point to build on as well as drills to continue to see growth in your speed, which will open doors for you in the game. Speed is by far the single most recruitable skill that can be honed in the sport of football, and USATF master level speed coach Kamau Peterson will walk you through it's key components in the morning session.

Following a break for lunch we will return to the field and break into skill work. Linemen (OL/DL) will have the pleasure of learning from NFL/CFL veteran and Team O Line coach Matt Sewell, as he covers some essential technique tools used on both sides of the line of scrimmage.

Coach Peterson will take skill players on both sides of the ball and break down key elements of the pass game from a catching and defending the pass standpoint, that  go overlooked but are crucial in giving players opportunities to play at higher levels.  Years of coaching and playing experience from everywhere from NCAA D1, to Team Canada, and even the CFL and NFL levels has shown our AP coaches the gaps in the pass game, and we are bringing them to your players through this workshop series.

Please note the following:

  • No pads required for this workshop
  • Players 12+
  • Players bring cleats, gloves and your own water bottle
